The first part of the day will be dedicated to people who have spent their lives in the air, in space. You may also be asking yourself questions about how space architecture evolved, what is the astronaut food, how does it look like staying at an international space station? We will learn all this and more in the Cultural Center of European Space Technologies in Vitanje. Through the various exhibition spaces, we will learn about the entire development of rocket technologies and its beginnings. From the first plans and calculations, flights from the Earth’s atmosphere, to the installation of the first artificial satellite – Sputnik 1 – into the Earth’s orbit.
In the afternoon, we will make a logical contrast; therefore, if we have looked at the work of people above the earth’s surface, we will explore this part of the day underground work – mining. Have you ever been curious how miners survived their working day, what they ate, and what appliances they used to acquire coal? We will concentrate on the Coal Mining Museum of Velenje, which is the only one in this part of Europe. We will go down 160 meters below the ground, where the temperature of the air is pleasant 20 degrees C. We will see 18 interesting scenes from the life and work of miners. They will explain to us the development of coal mining from the first finds of coal to the world-famous Velenje digging method – thus miners are still working today.
