Town On The Island In The Middle Of River
Have you ever visited a small town on the island in the middle of the river? Kostanjevica na Krki is the smallest and one of the oldest towns in Slovenia and at the same time it is the oldest in Dolenjska. It is a true miracle of nature and it is perfectly justified to bear the full name Kostanjevica na Krki, because the old part of the city is located on the island on the Krka River. Due to frequent floods in the past, the locals named it “Venice of Dolenjska”, so moving around the city was possible only from boats.
In the vicinity we will then visit the Kostanjevica Cave, which is a whole little longer than 2 kilometers, and for visitors there are 300 meters of routes, where electric lighting is installed.
