Piran and Portorož

Piran is a small Mediterranean town and a cultural monument of Slovenian Istria (the largest peninsula in the Adriatic) and the closest town to the neighbouring resort town of Portorož. The town is beloved by visitors – and their cameras – with its views known all over the world. Piran’s architecture reveals the strong influence of the former Venetian Republic. Tartini Square is the town’s main square and is one of the town gems. Piran is also a member of the European Walled Cities Association, and is actually a recognised national historical monument earning much of its income through tourism. The town is very much alive, especially in summer when numerous events – outside sun and sea – take place.
